A leading healthcare provider in Bow Island is seeking a Combined Laboratory/X-Ray Technologist I. Bow Island Laboratory is located in the Bow Island Health Centre and serves the town as well as its surrounding area. Bow Island is located 40 minutes from Medicine Hat, Alberta. The community is known for the longest summers in Alberta with an average of 2500 hours of sunlight. Bow Island has become a vibrant agricultural community with many agri-processing industries located here such as Bow Island Dry Edible Bean Plant and Alberta Sunflower Seeds Ltd. (Spitz). The Bow Island Health Centre is staffed with an experienced team of laboratory and x-ray professionals that offer strong patient focused service to their community.As a Combined Lab/X-Ray Tech I (CLXT I), you will be a member of an interdisciplinary team where you will be responsible for providing exemplary patient care by applying regional policies to perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging areas.With a customer service focused approach and your strong coordination, organization, and communication skills, you build productive and respectful customer relations and take responsibility for customer satisfaction. You have an ability to influence change by encouraging others, building positive, respectful, and collaborative working relationships.
As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.
Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT).Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:The successful applicant must have a strong sense of teamwork and possess excellent communication skills. Strong technical skills and adaptability is imperative in this position.
Preferred Qualifications:Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems as well as recent phlebotomy and bench experience is an asset.
