Job summary

Cascade Natural Gas is seeking a skilled welder/pipefitter in Hermiston, OR to perform joining operations and maintenance on gas distribution systems. You will use oxyacetylene, arc welding and heat fusion, reading drawings and following procedures to ensure safe, reliable infrastructure.

The role requires basic education plus welding experience, with a strong emphasis on safety, ability to work from drawings, and eligibility for a commercial driver’s license. Competitive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Six months progressive pipefitting experience.
• One year welding training/experience in gas/utilities.
• Ability to read legible construction drawings.
• Familiar with hazards of welding with gas vapors.
• Completed Cascade welding and fusion school.
• Valid first aid card.
• Able to qualify for and obtain a commercial driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform joining operations using oxyacetylene, arc welding and heat fusion methods to construct and maintain piping systems.
• Lay out, measure, cut and fit materials for joining; work on high- and low-pressure vessels, meters and regulator stations.
• Maintain distribution piping and equipment; ensure safety remains the top priority.
• Read and follow construction drawings and Cascade procedures.

Job description

Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others.

Under general supervision, is required to use oxyacetylene, electric welding and heat fusion methods to perform joining operations necessary to construct and maintain either high- and low-pressure vessels, meter and regulator stations, pipeline or piping systems; lays out, measures, cuts, fits and otherwise prepares material for joining; performs other duties relating to the maintenance and repair of distribution piping and equipment.

The successful candidate must reside within 20 miles of the reporting office address listed on this posting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Should have high school education or its equivalent.
• Minimum of six (6) months progressive experience in pipefitting work.
• Should have a minimum of one (1) year training and experience in welding in the gas or related utility industry.
• Must be able to work from and complete legible construction drawings.
• Should be familiar with the hazards involved in welding and fusing in the presence of gas vapors.
• Will have satisfactorily completed a course of instruction at a Cascade Natural Gas Corporation welding and fusion school.
• Must secure and maintain a valid first aid card.
• Must be able to qualify for and acquire commercial driver's license

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
• Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
• Must be able to perform heavy work such as running a compactor and jackhammer.
• Must reside within a twenty (20) mile radius from district office no later than 90 days from your start date in this role.

QUALIFYING TESTS

• Welders must maintain their proficiency in oxyacetylene, arc welding and fusing.
• Qualification tests constitute the Company policy in maintaining this proficiency.
• Every welder must submit test coupons as required, and field test coupons may be taken from any welder or from any weld at any time.
• These must pass the qualification test which is outlined in Cascade's Company Procedures or the Heat Fusion Qualification Guide.

Wage - $54.43 - $54.43 per hour
