Job summary

Hanwha Defense USA is seeking a Shop Technician Supervisor for the Combat Systems Program in Opelika, AL. You will lead maintenance, modifications, and prototype builds for combat vehicle systems, directing technicians and coordinating with engineers to ensure readiness.

You will oversee installation of kits, testing, and documentation, while enforcing safety standards and guiding continuous improvement in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or equivalent military training in electronics, automotive, or mechanical systems.
• Experience repairing combat vehicles or heavy mechanical/electrical systems.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, manuals, and modification instructions.
• Hands-on experience with diagnostic equipment and shop tools.
• Experience leading prototyping and integration activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of vehicle subsystems.
• Oversee modification kit installation and engineering changes per standards.
• Direct integration of prototype components and experimental hardware.
• Lead prototyping activities and iterative system configuration changes.
• Manage teardown, repair, rebuild, and functional testing of subsystems.
• Ensure safe operation of shop equipment and provide training.
• Oversee crane and forklift operations for vehicle handling.
• Guide light welding for component repair and fabrication.
• Review maintenance docs for accuracy and traceability.
• Manage inventory and staging of kits and parts.
• Enforce OSHA safety and drive continuous improvement.
