Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Systems Analyst to support combat system performance studies. You will analyze Weapon Control System modeling & simulation results, identify trends, and perform root cause analysis to inform fleet studies and flight tests.

The role requires a BS in a technical field, 3+ years of experience, and proficiency in MATLAB and Python, with strong communication skills. An MS and 5+ years experience are a plus.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in a technical field as listed.
  • 3+ years of related professional experience.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and/or Python.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated to dig into data to root cause issues and understand performance.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team with collaboration skills.
  • Travel up to 5% as needed and eligibility for security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze Weapon Control System M&S results to evaluate performance for fleet studies and flight tests.
  • Characterize system capabilities and identify trends and outliers; perform root cause analysis.
  • Review requirements, assess design, and evaluate algorithms for WCS analysis.
  • Develop tools in Python and MATLAB to analyze performance and visualize data.
  • Produce documentation on requirements, design, and analysis results.
  • Deliver presentations to technical staff, program leadership, and Sponsors.
