Job summary

Reliability & Performance Technologies seeks an experienced Subject Matter Expert in Interior Communications (IC) System Integration and Combat Systems to lead installation, testing, and integration of critical shipboard communications and combat systems for government contracts.

You will oversee end-to-end IC equipment lifecycle, perform EMI/PCI testing, analyze performance data, and refine test procedures.

Qualifications

• High school/tech ed with algebra, geometry, trig, and physics coursework.
• Associate degree in electronics technology preferred.
• Three years of progressive experience in combat system engineering, testing and maintenance.
• Three years related to Surface Combatant combat support systems testing in multiple areas.
• Must have or be able to obtain US Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end testing and integration of Interior Communications (IC) and combat systems on shipboard platforms.
• Perform EMI, PCI, and radar system testing and data analysis to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Develop and refine test procedures for IC equipment, navigation aids, and weapon system interfaces.
• Provide on-site engineering support for shipboard operations, grooming, and training of maintenance personnel.
• Inspect and verify installation, operation, and performance of IC and combat systems.

R&P is looking for a professional who wants to join our team. We are a small-sized defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Management and Technical Services to government clients. We need a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Interior Communications (IC) System Integration/ Combat System Technician ready to join a fast-paced and exciting work environment.

We are seeking a specialized Interior Communications (IC) & Combat Systems Test Engineer to lead the installation, operational testing, and integration of critical shipboard communication and combat systems.

Key Responsibilities

Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Interior Communications (IC) System Integration. In this role, you will spearhead the end-to-end lifecycle of complex IC equipment and subsystems, from initial installation through final tactical network integration.

• IC Systems Sound Powered Telephones (Circuit XJ), Integrated Voice Communication Systems (IVCS - STC-2/STC-3), Ship’s Announcements (1MC, 2MC, 4MC), Alarms and Indicators (Chemical, Collision, General).
• Data & Navigation Navigation Sensor System Interface (NAVSSI), Digital Video Distribution Systems (DVDS), and Shipboard Data Multiplex System (GEDMS).
• Combat Integration Linking IC data (like heading, pitch, roll, and time synchronization) to Weapon Systems, SSDS (Ship Self-Defense System), or SPS/SPY radar arrays.
• Hands-on Testing Perform comprehensive testing on IC systems, radar, general navigation, and electrical support equipment.
  

Conduct precision testing on shipboard copper cabling, fiber optics, and Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) lines.

Execute Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Product Configuration Identification (PCI) testing.

Lead post-installation System Operational Verification Testing (SOVT) and support Builders, Acceptance, and Final Contract Trials.

Analyze performance data to isolate, troubleshoot, and resolve intricate IC and combat system issues.

Review and refine technical test procedures for absolute accuracy before execution.

Assist Ship's Force personnel with system operations, grooming, and technical IC familiarity.

Additional Responsibilities

Provides on-site combat systems engineering and technical support.

Assess radar system installation and integration progress.

Conducts initial radar light-off activities, including power, connectivity, operability, reliability, and safety verification.

Conducts radar testing in direct support of the Government Test Team.

Validates, monitors, and troubleshoots complex radar systems to identify electronic failures to continue testing of the equipment
and return it to full operational capability

Position Qualifications

• Graduate of a high school, trade or industrial school or correspondence school in which credits were received in algebra, plane geometry, trigonometry, and physics.
• An Associates degree as an electronics technician or equivalent Amphibious Ship experience is preferred.
• Three (3) years of practical experience in responsible combat system engineering duties including three (3) years of progressive experience involving operation, maintenance, and testing of Surface Combatant Class Naval ship systems and equipment. Should have three (3) years of experience directly related to Surface Combatant Combat Support Systems testing in multiple areas of Combat Systems suite to include, but not limited to
  • Cable testing
  • Electromagnetic Interference testing
  • Product Configuration Identification testing
  • Interior Communications equipment and systems, radar systems, and hydrostatic testing
  • General Navigation Aids, electronic, mechanical, and electrical primary and support equipment testing
  • Communications equipment testing
  • Cryptographic systems testing
• Perform land-based and underway testing and analysis of radar system performance and provide hands-on training for shipboard maintenance technicians and operators.
• LPD/LHA Platform CSLO/ESLO experience perferred
• Current US DOD Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

General Physical Requirements

• Standing/Walking Frequently (up to 5-10 hours daily) standing on concrete or uneven surfaces.
• Lifting/Carrying Ability to lift and carry up to (25) lbs unassisted.
• Pushing/Pulling Ability to exert force of up to (50) lbs to move equipment or materials

Physical Activities

• Climbing Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolding, and stairs.
• Bending/Kneeling Frequently required to bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch.
• Reaching Constant reaching overhead and below shoulder level.
• Dexterity Manual dexterity required to operate hand tools and fine-motor controls.

Environmental Conditions

• Work Environment Ability to work in extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and adverse weather conditions.
• Safety Gear Must be capable of wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, steel-toed boots, and earing protection
