Job description

About Our Company

We’re a diversified financial services leader with more than $1.5 trillion in assets under management, administration and advisement as of year-end 2024. Our team of 22,000 people across 19 countries, serves more than 3.5 million individual, small business and institutional clients. We are a longstanding leader in financial planning and advice, a global asset manager and an insurer. Our unwavering focus on our clients and strong financial foundation connects each of our unique businesses – Ameriprise Financial, Columbia Threadneedle Investments and RiverSource Insurance and Annuities. Here, we foster meaningful careers, invest in the future, and make a difference for clients, institutions and communities around the world.

Job Description

At Ameriprise Financial, Columbia Threadneedle Investments, and RiverSource, we’re committed to helping early‑career talent grow through meaningful work and practical learning. Whether you’re joining us as an Intern or Leadership Development Program participant, you’ll work alongside experienced colleagues, contribute fresh perspectives, and gain exposure to the people, projects, and experiences that drive our business forward. Guided by our core values of putting clients first, acting with integrity, striving for excellence, and respecting individuals and our communities, you’ll develop both professionally and personally. Through mentoring, networking, senior leader engagement, and community initiatives, you’ll build valuable skills, expand your network, and discover what’s possible across a global financial organization.

The 18‑month Technology LDP program offers a structured technical concentration or a pathway to upskill in a specific technology team. This LDP Pathway is for our Boston‑based Columbia Threadneedle Asset Management Sales, Marketing, and Distribution Technology Pathway. As a Technology LDP, you’ll support three key areas of the Distribution team for a 6‑month rotation each.

  • The Client Relationship Management (CRM) team delivers Salesforce capabilities that enable our Sales and Client Relations teams across North America, EMEA, and APAC. As part of the team, you’ll learn how CRM drives productivity for wholesalers, key account teams, and channel partners while optimizing CRM workflows.
  • The Marketing Technology team powers our digital client experience by supporting websites, marketing automation, personalization, and content delivery for marketing teams worldwide. This rotation blends marketing technology with a practical understanding of the asset‑management buyer and influencer ecosystem.
  • The Distribution Analytics team manages the data and analytical platforms that drive insights for the Distribution and Marketing teams. You’ll use business intelligence tools, data lakes, and service layers to leverage technical skills while understanding how teams use data to drive strategy and advisor relationships.

Together, these rotations provide hands‑on experience with CRM operations, digital marketing technology, and data‑driven decision‑making in a modern asset‑management distribution environment. After exploring the breadth of the business unit through each rotation, LDPs may have the opportunity to post to a permanent position within Ameriprise Financial. The Technology LDP contributes to the success of the firm by delivering technology solutions to support the evolving needs of our clients, advisors, and employees. Our Technology organization is committed to strengthening and securing our systems, delivering unparalleled customer experiences, uncovering efficiencies, and growing and succeeding as a team. As part of the Technology Leadership Development Program, you will cultivate leadership skills by co‑collaborating and leading different Committees (Employee Engagement, Professional Development, Volunteer Committee and more).

Responsibilities
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements
  • Develop, document, test, and modify new and existing code
  • Develop, document, test, modify, troubleshoot and maintain new and existing software applications
  • Develop working knowledge of Ameriprise systems, processes, data, and vendor tools
  • Learn and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to the development life cycle
  • Write and maintain development/programming/systems documentation, as well as operations and user guides, as required
  • Make recommendations for improvements
  • Continuously improve analysis skills and best practices from prior projects, training and peer learning
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with technology teams, business partners and LDP peers
  • Participation in Technology LDP Committees
