Job description

Colorectal Surgeon Needed – Brown Academic Appointment
  • Providence, Rhode Island

he Division of General Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is seeking a colorectal surgeon to join our growing faculty. This position will be based primarily at the Miriam Hospital, with potential practice opportunities at other Brown-affiliated hospitals across the health system.

The role is designed for a surgeon who is passionate about excellence in clinical care while also embracing the academic mission of our department. The position is hospital-based, and the applicant will be expected to participate in patient care activities, teaching medical students and training of general surgery residents. In addition, there are opportunities to contribute to the academic mission of Brown University, including a potential role in surgical education at the Associate Program Director level. The Division is proud to support both a General Surgery Residency and an MIS Fellowship.

About the Job:
  • Join a team of over 120 surgeons and experienced advanced practice providers
  • Call is 1:6
  • Anticipated 400-500 cases per year
  • 24 ORs
  • Time is roughly split 80% clinical, 10% Teaching, 10% Research
  • DaVinci robots, laparoscopic and endoscopic equipment available
  • Opportunity to pursue basic, translational or clinical research programs pertaining to the field. Participate in national, regional, and institutional clinical research protocols across the Brown Health System and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University
About you
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in general surgery
    • Specialty training with board certification or eligibility in colorectal surgery
  • Strong clinical background in surgical diseases of the GI tract
  • Show potential for scholarly contributions in clinical or translational research
  • Value collaboration in a collegial, multidisciplinary environment
    • Surgeons with proficiency is Portuguese highly encouraged to apply
