Position Description:

The Section of Colorectal Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Iowa invites applicants for a faculty position in Colorectal Surgery. Appointment will be for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in either the non-tenure clinical track or tenure track consistent with experience and research interest.





Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.





Education Requirement:


  • Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or an equivalent degree, have completed ACGME accredited training in all phases of General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery.


Required Qualifications:


  • Applicants with established research are preferred and appointment to the tenure track requires research experience at a level which enables procurement of outside funding.


  • The successful candidate will have evidence of adequate training and/or experience in open, laparoscopic, robotic surgery, endoscopy, and anorectal surgery.


  • Applicants will also need to demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, possess a strong commitment to academic and clinical excellence, be committed to ongoing performance improvement and to providing care as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.


Certifications:


  • Board eligibility/certification from both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery is required.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so.
