We are hiring a Color Laboratory Technician in the Automotive Parts and Accessories organization here at PPG! Are you looking to make the next step in your career with an industry leader? Do you have a knowledge of and passion for Color and Color Science? Do you want to be a part of making the world around you a more colorful and sustainable place? If you answered “Yes” to these questions then we have the role for you!

In this role you will contribute to the profit objectives of the APA Decorative market segment by assisting in the development and testing of new coatings that reflect quality and meet customer requirements. You will also, support product development via preparing laboratory quantities of paint, applying coatings to appropriate substrate and performing testing. You will be expected to be responsible for interacting with plant production personnel and QA personnel to assist with problem resolution as it pertains to formulas. Overall direction and priorities are provided by the team leader, CCT and / or chemist.

This is an on-site role working at our Oak Creek, WI facility and report directly to the Color Development Manager.

There is a Shift Differential of an additional $.65/hr for 2nd shift and $.75/hr for 3rd shift

Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all PPG safety protocols and encourage a broad safety culture in a laboratory work environment.
• Actively and positively contributes in a team environment, effectively collaborates with team members , and supports team engagement initiatives.
• Effectively communicates results and observations to direct supervisor, as required
• Maintains an accurate, neat notebook. Documents all observations, including unusual results.
• Demonstrates initiative and drive through accomplishing tasks. Follows through on mutually agreed upon dates and goals. Accepts and effectively uses feedback.
• Acts consistently with The PPG Way on a daily basis
  
  

Qualifications:

• High school chemistry and algebra are required.
• Experience in a Technical or Quality Control lab environment.
• Basic Computer Skills
