Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical patient care through examination and treatment.
  • Educates patients on wellness and prevention.
  • Orders tests and documents services accurately.
  • Sets urgency for follow-up and referrals/consultations.
  • Exercises final medical judgment in health care decisions.
  • Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
  • Orders studies, tests, and ancillary services.
  • Documents all services in the patient medical record.
  • Reviews long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention.
  • Consults with Medical Director and staff on patient care and education issues.
  • Participates in process improvement and continuing education programs.
  • Oversees mid-level staff and nursing staff as assigned.
  • Assists in resolving patient inquiries and complaints.
  • Maintains confidentiality per federal guidelines.

Colon and Rectal Surgery – Bronson Battle Creek, Michigan (Full‑time, Variable Shift)

Job Summary

Bronson Colon and Rectal Surgery Specialists – Battle Creek, MI, is seeking a dynamic colon and rectal surgeon to join a well‑established practice that consists of two colon and rectal surgeons. The role includes clinic, endoscopy laboratory, and surgical rotations with flexibility based on candidate needs and availability. Candidates will also participate in a CRS call rotation of 1:4, with no general surgery call obligations. Opportunity exists to pursue clinical and basic science research, resident teaching, and academic affiliation through Western Michigan University School of Medicine.

Responsibilities
  • Provides medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients to meet their medical needs.
  • Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources to patients and families.
  • Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs.
  • Determines level of urgency of follow‑up, referral/consultation appointments.
  • Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of health care.
  • Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
  • Orders studies, tests, and ancillary services.
  • Documents all services in the patient medical record.
  • Reviews on a regular basis long‑term cases that require ongoing medical attention.
  • Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
  • Participates in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements.
  • Oversees mid‑level medical staff as assigned as well as nursing clinical staff.
  • Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Demonstrates commitment to providing outstanding customer service to all customers in a manner reflective of our mission, values, and customer service standards.
Qualifications
  • Medical degree and a minimum of 2 years of direct or internship experience.
  • Board‑certified or board‑eligible and fellowship‑trained in colon and rectal surgery.
  • Current medical license in the state of Michigan.
  • Current DEA and DPS certificate of registration.
  • Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
