Job summary

Queens College, part of the Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY), is seeking responsible lifeguards to supervise pool activities in a collegiate aquatics setting. The role requires current lifeguarding, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, and First Aid certifications, with evenings and weekends as needed.

The lifeguard oversees daily pool operations, enforces safety rules, and responds to emergencies while supporting rentals and special events.

Qualifications

• Must hold lifeguarding, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, and First Aid certifications.
• Experience in collegiate, municipal, or high-traffic aquatic facilities preferred.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required by schedule.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily pool operations during assigned shifts.
• Monitor swimmers and supervise rental groups.
• Support free swim periods for students and community members.
• Open and close procedures for the pool.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of pool deck and equipment areas.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors, event coordinators, and facility staff.
