Job summary

Paine College seeks a licensed, dedicated Onsite Athletic Trainer to provide comprehensive sports medicine coverage for its NCCAA Division I student-athletes. The trainer will prevent injuries, evaluate and treat injuries, and coordinate rehabilitation with team physicians and campus health services.

They will maintain HIPAA/FERPA-compliant records, lead emergency actions, and ensure safety in the athletic training room while traveling with teams as schedules require.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • BOC certification and eligibility/licensure in Georgia required.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • 1–3 years of collegiate or clinical sports medicine experience.
  • Knowledge of NCCAA guidelines and HIPAA/FERPA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-field and clinical athletic training coverage for practices and competitions across all intercollegiate sports.
  • Evaluate, treat, and manage athletic injuries with first aid, taping, bracing, and emergency care.
  • Develop injury prevention programs and hydration/heat-illness protocols.
  • Design and oversee rehabilitation programs with team physicians.
  • Maintain confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA/FERPA and NCCAA.
  • Establish emergency action plans and lead emergency response.
  • Manage the athletic training room inventory and equipment, ensuring safety.
  • Coordinate referrals to physicians or therapists and track return-to-play, including concussion management.
  • Communicate health status and return-to-play timelines with coaches and families.
  • Ensure NCCAA health and safety policy compliance; support drug/supplement education and risk management.
  • Assist budgeting and ordering of medical supplies; supervise student aides/interns.
  • Represent Paine College Athletics professionally at events; support the college's mission.
