Job description

College Success Manager – North County (11th Grade)

To empower the youth in our community with equitable access to social, academic, and career opportunities to thrive

All youth grow up to lead fulfilling lives fueled by their passions, talents, and a love of learning

Curiosity, Respect, Ownership, Ganas, Unity, Equity

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 7,000 TK-College students across 31 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. We believe that talent is equally distributed across Silicon Valley, but opportunity is not, so we are committed to ensuring that socio-economically disadvantaged students have equitable access to the opportunities that will help them thrive in school and beyond. Students benefit from high-quality academic programs, captivating enrichment activities, and access to critical mental health services. With support from our staff, Board, and broader Team BGCP community, we strive to make our community a great place for all kids to grow up.

Program Overview

The Future Grads Program is a college success program that equips first-generation students with the non‑academic skills they need to overcome obstacles on their way to college graduation. The program began at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) in 2016 and is modeled after the Bright Prospect program in Pomona, CA—which has shown strong results since 2002. While our program includes counseling on how to apply, complete financial aid forms and choose the right college, we also develop our students’ social and emotional skills, including how to ask for help, access resources, build support networks and maintain confidence. Future Grads supports its students to and through college graduation.

Position Overview

The College Success Manager will work with the North County high school team to provide the resources, support, tools and navigational skills students need to successfully pursue and complete higher education. The College Success Manager will work with a caseload of high school students from partner schools in the Jefferson Union High School District and South San Francisco Union High School District. Future Grads staff will support students with the college application process and play a key role in ensuring seamless implementation of the Future Grads program. This program addresses the need for quality college advising in a community where few parents have historically attended college and where first‑generation youth are not receiving the services they need to achieve their postsecondary goals.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Implement Future Grads: program goals, activities, and schedules on site at all our JUHSD and SSFUSD partner campuses (virtually as needed)

  • Support recruitment and enrollment to grow program participants to meet program goals
  • Build relationships with students and understand their post‑secondary interests
  • Establish and hold your students accountable to action plans
  • Maintain organized student records and tracking of program activities, including logging services on Salesforce database accurately and on time
  • Develop & cultivate partnerships with our partner high school campuses in JUHSD/SSFUSD districts through on‑site school presence
  • Manage communication with students, families, school staff, volunteer coaches, and other partners
  • Support collaborative college success and high school programs at BGCP
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

  • Background working in an ethnically diverse community and in meeting the needs of the groups represented in Daly City and South San Francisco
  • Strong initiative, self‑starter, intrinsically motivated, problem solver
  • Strong interpersonal skills and youth development experience

  • Strong project management skills, including planning, executing, and tracking multiple projects with clear timelines and deliverables
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, G‑Suite, Salesforce, and Outlook
