Job Description
The College Specialist works with the College Manager to strengthen CPS's college and career readiness infrastructure by ensuring that school-based staff have the guidance, training, systems, and partnerships necessary to effectively implement postsecondary programming. The position helps create consistency across schools, maintain compliance with state and institutional requirements, strengthen higher education partnerships, and expand access to meaningful postsecondary opportunities for CPS students and their families.
College Credit Plus (CCP) Coordination & Compliance
- Serve as a district-level resource for the implementation of Ohio's College Credit Plus program.
- Monitor and interpret state and federal guidance, legislation, policies, timelines, and requirements impacting CCP programming.
- Translate state and postsecondary requirements into clear guidance, procedures, and resources for school-based staff.
- Provide technical assistance and ongoing support to school-based CCP Coordinators, counselors, administrators, and other staff responsible for CCP implementation.
- Develop and facilitate professional learning and training related to CCP requirements, processes, systems, and best practices.
- Support consistent implementation of CCP processes across schools and postsecondary partners.
- Monitor CCP participation, enrollment, course completion, student performance, and other program indicators to identify trends, risks, and areas requiring intervention.
- Support district accountability and required state, institutional, grant, and program reporting.
- Maintain and communicate CCP calendars, deadlines, procedures, and implementation resources.
- Collaborate with postsecondary partners to resolve enrollment, registration, course, transcript, and other operational issues.
- Support the development and refinement of district CCP procedures, tools, and documentation.
School-Based Staff Support
- Serve as a primary district resource for staff implementing CCP and postsecondary programming at the school level.
- Provide consultation and problem-solving support to CCP Coordinators, school counselors, administrators, and other designated staff.
- Support school teams in understanding student progression requirements, college partner expectations, and program policies.
- Assist school-based staff in identifying and addressing barriers to student participation and progression.
- Facilitate communication between school-based teams and college/university partners when issues require cross-institutional coordination.
University & Pipeline Partnership Coordination
- Serve as a district liaison to designated college and university partners supporting CPS college access, early college, career pathway, and pipeline initiatives.
- Coordinate operational components of university partnership programs and ensure alignment between CPS and partner expectations.
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of college-to-career and postsecondary pipeline pathways.
- Coordinate communication among district departments, schools, college partners, and program stakeholders.
- Support partnership agreements, program timelines, implementation plans, meetings, and deliverables.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen and expand postsecondary partnerships that increase student access and success.
- Support the evaluation of partnership effectiveness and student/program outcomes.
District Postsecondary Programming
- Support planning and implementation of large-scale district college and career readiness initiatives and events.
- Coordinate district-wide programming such as college access events, college fairs, FAFSA initiatives, College Week, application campaigns, and other postsecondary engagement opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to ensure effective program delivery.
- Support schools in accessing and utilizing district postsecondary resources and opportunities.
- Assist in identifying and coordinating community and institutional partners that expand college access and career-connected opportunities for CPS students.
Data, Accountability & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and analyze CCP and postsecondary participation and outcome data to inform program planning and improvement.
- Support district tracking of college access, CCP participation, postsecondary enrollment, and related accountability measures.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations for district leadership and stakeholders.
- Identify implementation gaps, trends, and areas of concern and recommend appropriate responses.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to college access and postsecondary programming.
- Ensure program documentation and practices align with district, state, institutional, and grant requirements.
Communication & Professional Learning
- Develop clear and accessible guidance for school staff, students, families, and partners as appropriate.
- Facilitate trainings, workshops, information sessions, and professional learning for district and school personnel.
- Communicate changes in CCP requirements, college partner policies, deadlines, and processes in a timely manner.
- Create and maintain centralized resources to support consistent implementation across schools.
- Represent the district in relevant college access, CCP, higher education, and community partner meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in higher education, K-12 education, college access, CCP/dual enrollment, student services, program coordination, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of postsecondary access and college readiness systems.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating programs, partnerships, or initiatives across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of program compliance, implementation, and accountability processes.
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities.
- Proficiency with data systems, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and other technology platforms used for program management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in education, higher education, counseling, public administration, student affairs, or related field.
- Experience with Ohio College Credit Plus.
- Experience managing college/university partnerships.
- Experience coordinating large-scale district or community initiatives.
Salary and Benefits
Contract Type: 260 day limited
