Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Two years of experience in K-12 or Higher Education performing duties related to college readiness, outreach, or student services.
  • Ability to plan, implement and evaluate programs.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information and support to students and families for college planning, exams, applications and financial aid.
  • Coordinate student recruitment by interviewing, evaluating, and selecting eligible participants.
  • Monitor and assess student progress with school personnel to tailor services.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate enrichment opportunities (summer programs, campus visits, workshops, field trips).
  • Coordinate tutoring/mentoring services to boost academic achievement.
  • Collect and maintain participant data for reporting.
  • Provide information and support services with school administration and staff.
  • Offer workshops to promote college readiness for students and families.
  • Hire, train and supervise tutors/mentors as needed.
  • Participate in other program-related duties.

Scope of Job

Provide guidance to program participants on academic or other areasrelating to the program to ensure academic preparedness and collegesuccess. Plan, implement, and evaluate intentional services to meetprogram goals and objectives intended to promote academicachievement and post-secondary success.

Description of Duties
  • Provides information and support to assist students andfamilies/guardians in completing essential post-secondarytransition processes such as: guidance on college planning, collegeentrance and placement exams, submitting college applications, applying for financial aid, and college selection.
  • Coordinates the student recruitment process by interviewing,evaluating, and selecting eligible program participants.
  • Monitors and assesses student academic progress in collaborationwith school personnel to provide services aligned with studentneeds.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates enrichment opportunities such assummer programming, conferences, workshops, college visits,educational field trips, service learning, and other appropriateactivities. Proposes new programs to leadership as identifiedbeneficial.
  • Coordinates tutoring/mentoring services designed to increaseacademic achievement and promote transition to post-secondaryeducation.
  • Collects and maintains participant and program level data for usein reporting.
  • Provides information and support services to students incollaboration with school administration, counselors andinstructional staff.
  • Provides opportunities for students to enhance social andemotional learning competencies such as positive decision making,self-concept development, resiliency, and conflictresolution.
  • Acts as the liaison between the program and parents, schoolpersonnel, and post-secondary institutions for implementation ofprogram services.
  • Conducts student and parent workshops on a variety of topics toensure college readiness of students and families/guardians.
  • Based on area of assignment hires, trains, and supervisestutors/mentors in coordination with the supervisor.
  • Participates in other program related assigned duties.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

Required Experience

Two (2) years of experience working in K-12 or Higher Educationperforming duties related to the job duties listed above, includingexperience in college readiness programs, post-secondary awarenessand outreach, student recruitment/retention, or other studentprogram or academic support services in K-12 or universitysetting.

Preferred Experience

Experience with program evaluation, partnership development, andobjectives-based programming.

Equipment

Use of standard office equipment.

Working Conditions

Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties.Office Environment; some travel and some periods of frequentevening and weekend programming. In addition, summer work andprogramming may be extensive.

Other

Exceptional planning and organizational skills. Ability to interactin a professional manner with university and school districtpersonnel, students and the public. Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills workingwith students and families. Independent decision making andproblem-solving ability. Must demonstrate effective projectpromotion skills, and, the ability to develop and maintain strongworking relations with internal and external agencies andentities.
