Job summary

Goddard Riverside Community Center in New York, NY is seeking College Success Counselors to support students in persisting toward degrees through 1:1 counseling, workshops, advocacy, and resource sharing.

The role includes course planning, financial aid procedures, campus visits, transfer support, and building relationships with 30+ colleges; you will document progress in the database and participate in outreach and advocacy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience working with young people in youth development or college pathways.
• Knowledge of U.S. higher education system, especially NYC/State NYC SUNY/CUNY and support programs.
• Experience advising/counseling in urban, multi-cultural settings preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 college persistence advisement to a caseload of 100+ undergraduates.
• Assist students with course registration, degree planning, transfer options, and financial aid procedures.
• Enter case notes and generate monthly progress reports in the student database.
• Build relationships with 30+ colleges/universities and advocate for students in policy and programmatic settings.
• Plan and facilitate College Transition orientations, workshops, and events throughout the year.
