Job summary

Guilford College in Greensboro, NC invites applications for a Controller to oversee the College's financial affairs, including accounting operations, audits, endowment and gift accounting, investments oversight, purchasing, and compliance with GAAP/FASB.

The Controller reports to the CFO and leads the Accounting Office and Purchasing, with responsibilities across planning, financial reporting, and collaboration with committees; minimum six years' accounting/management experience; CPA preferred;

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in accounting or business management/finance.
• Six+ years of accounting and management experience.
• CPA status preferred.
• Proficient with Word, Access and Excel; familiarity with Workday and Banner.
• Knowledge of GAAP & FASB guidelines for private colleges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to work in a changing environment within a liberal arts setting and Quaker procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversees general accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable and cash management.
• Manages restricted and unrestricted endowment funds and gift funds.
• Prepares annual audit materials and creates financial statements for external auditors.
• Responsible for statutory reporting to education departments and other jurisdictions.
• Oversees debt service and reserve funds; indirect oversight of student accounts.
• Leads Accounting Office and Purchasing; supports budget managers and committees.
