Job summary

Georgia Gwinnett College is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller in managing accounting operations, financial reporting, grant accounting, student accounts, treasury, and compliance. This role drives day-to-day accounting activities, reconciliations, audit support, and internal controls while aiding with systems initiatives and process improvements.

The position partners with the Controller to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the College's financial activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Eight years of progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience.
• Five years experience supervising professional staff or leading major projects.
• Experience supporting audits or maintaining internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting and financial reporting functions.
• Oversee general ledger activity, reconciliations, journal entries, and close processes.
• Coordinate year-end accounting activities and financial reporting.
• Prepare AFR notes, SEFA, and related federal/state reports.
• Monitor daily general ledger activity and resolve reconciling items.
• Provide guidance on accounting policies and financial reporting to campus departments.
• Support ERP implementation and process improvements.
• Lead staff development and cross-training; act as backup to Controller.
