Job summary

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is seeking a full-time College Access Counselor to support students at Collegiate Prep High School on the Franklin K. Lane Campus in New York. The SSC provides college guidance and resources to help students pursue higher education.

The counselor will work with students, families, staff, and partners to remove barriers to postsecondary success. The role requires collaboration, data tracking, and crisis intervention when needed, with occasional

Qualifications

• BA in education, counseling or related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in college access, youth development, or education.
• Fluency in Spanish preferred.
• Strong understanding of CUNY/SUNY admissions, financial aid (FAFSA/TAP).

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling for college exploration, applications, and financial aid processes.
• Facilitate college access workshops and outreach for students and families.
• Collaborate with school staff to implement college readiness initiatives.
• Coordinate college visits, parent information nights, and program celebrations.
• Track student progress and report outcomes to SSC leadership.
