Job summary

Indian Hills Community College invites applications for a Success Coach within the Educational Talent Search & Upward Bound program. The role provides vocational and academic services to eligible participants, housed at Liberty Intermediate and Cardinal Middle School/High School, under the Program Director and Talent Search team.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree, experience with at-risk students, and strong organizational and counseling skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of one year advising or teaching experience at a middle school, high school, or post-secondary institution.
• Professional experience with at-risk students preferred.
• Experience with high school course planning, financial aid, admissions, career development, counseling, testing, evaluation.
• Demonstrated organizational, communication, leadership and counseling skills.
• Experience or knowledge on recruitment to meet 500 participant objective.
• Must be self‑motivated with minimal supervision.
• Sensitivity to target population needs and ability to provide intervention services.
• Preference for education/economic background similar to target population.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized advising, career exploration and postsecondary planning.
• Assist participants in documenting academic, career and workplace skills.
• Plan and facilitate career development, soft skills and college readiness workshops.
• Provide field trip opportunities to colleges and events.
• Plan workshops for parents on the college-going process.
• Collaborate with high school staff on dropout prevention.
• Communicate progress with the Program Director and Talent Search team.
• Develop contacts with local organizations to build referral networks.
• Maintain positive relationships with school districts and follow the communication plan.
• Document services and report data as required.
