Job summary

Denison University invites applications for a Collections Manager to steward the Permanent Collection of ~8,000 objects across multiple media. You will oversee documentation, storage, and access, working with the Museum Director and Curator to advance teaching, research, and public engagement.

Responsibilities include managing acquisitions/loans, coordinating research, and supporting accreditation efforts while guiding student employees and collaborating with external scholars and faculty.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field plus 3+ years of professional museum experience.
• Experience with handling, storage, preservation, documentation, and management of two- and three-dimensional objects.
• Experience with a museum collections management system and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day care, stewardship, and documentation of the Permanent Collection.
• Develop workflows for collections care and risk management in coordination with leadership.
• Coordinate research, provenance work, and consultations with external scholars.
• Manage acquisitions, loans, and deaccessioning processes and related records.
• Assist with exhibitions, teaching, and public engagement to use the collection in teaching and research.
• Supervise student employees and interns on collections projects and workflows.
• Support accreditation efforts and policy development in line with professional standards.
