Freedom First Credit Union is seeking a Collections Specialist I in Roanoke, VA. The role focuses on collecting on delinquent loans and negative balance accounts while maintaining member relationships. The position is full-time and located at 207 Bullitt Ave SE, Roanoke, VA.

Responsibilities include applying department policies, analyzing financial situations, and assisting Retail staff with member accounts flagged by Collections. Strong Word/Excel skills and a high school diploma are expected.

Salary Range: $18.68 To $28.00 Annually

Role:

To preserve the credit union's assets by managing risk, collecting on delinquent loans and negative balance deposit accounts, while maintaining member relationships.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

70% Responsible for the successful completion of the assigned duties listed on the most current Collection Department Distribution of duties while adhering to current department policies and procedures.

20% Analyze member's financial situation; make recommendations for arrangements to bring the account current.

5% Provide support to Retail employees seeking assistance with member accounts flagged by Collections.

5% Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

1. Must comply with government and other regulations affecting the credit union industry including, but not limited to, OFAC and the Bank Secrecy Act. Meets or exceeds performance expectations as described in Essential Functions and Responsibilities. Please refer to Annual Performance Goal document for remaining Performance Measurements.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills Skill and ability to use and operate a keyboard (typewriter), computer, calculator, fax machine, copier and telephone. Skill and ability to read and understand financial statements, contracts, applications, computer printouts, manuals and other related materials. Must have the skill and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
