Job summary

U.S. Multimodal Group in Illinois is seeking a Collections Representative to contact customers about past-due accounts, negotiate payment plans, and maintain positive relationships while protecting cash flow.

The role collaborates with sales, customer service, and accounting to resolve discrepancies, review aging reports, and document collection activities. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent; experience in collections and proficiency with MS Office are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in collections, accounts receivable, customer service, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with accounting, ERP, or collections software is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Contact customers by phone, email, and written correspondence regarding overdue invoices and payments.
  • Review accounts receivable records to identify delinquent accounts.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and follow up on payment commitments.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, disputes, and customer concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of collection activities and customer communications.
  • Monitor aging reports and prioritize collection efforts based on account status.
  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, and accounting teams to resolve account issues.
  • Process account adjustments, credit requests, and payment applications as needed.
  • Escalate unresolved collection matters to management when appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable collection regulations.

Job Summary

The Collections Representative is responsible for contacting customers regarding past-due accounts, resolving payment issues, and maintaining positive customer relationships while ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances.
