D3 Search is actively seeking a Collections Manager for a prominent AMLAW-ranked law practice headquartered in Los Angeles, CA. This hybrid role (1 onsite, 4 remote) leads the firmion’s Collections Department across a large, global AR portfolio and collaborates closely with attorneys, clients and stakeholders to resolve complex receivables.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of law-firm collections experience, 2+ years in management, and strong analytical/Excel skills.

Qualifications

  • Note: 5+ years collections experience with a law practice is REQUIRED.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 5+ years of collections experience in a law firm or professional services environment (law firm strongly preferred); 2+ years in a management or supervisory capacity.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume portfolio and competing deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Set and manage collections targets across the portfolio with Revenue Director.
  • Oversee portfolio management by a team of collectors and Liaisons.
  • Monitor aging reports and prioritize high-risk exposure.
  • Handle escalated collection matters, including disputed invoices.
  • Coordinate directly with attorneys on collection strategy for their matters.
  • Maintain client contact as needed to resolve disputes and drive prompt payment resolution.
  • Prepare management reporting on collections performance and aging.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, risk patterns, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Lead quarterly collections initiatives and recommend workflow enhancements.
  • Manage and develop a team of collectors and/or Liaisons, including performance management and training.
  • Develop and refine departmental procedures and best practices.
  • Support cross-office coordination on collections and AR reporting alignment (US and international offices).
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 5+ years of collections experience in a law firm or professional services environment (law firm strongly preferred); 2+ years in a management or supervisory capacity.

Collections Manager

Full-time/direct-hire employment opportunity. Non-exempt role (OT in accordance with CA laws).

Global AMLAW ranked litigation powerhouse, seeks a Collections Manager to help lead the firm's Collections Department and drive achievement of firmwide cash revenue goals. This role oversees day-to-day collections operations across a large, global accounts receivable portfolio spanning multiple offices and jurisdictions, and works closely with attorneys, clients, and internal stakeholders to resolve complex receivables issues.

The Collections Manager reports directly to the Revenue Director and partners closely with department leadership on strategy, staffing, and performance.

Collections Operations
  • Partner with the Revenue Director to set and manage collections targets across the portfolio
  • Oversee portfolio management by a team of collectors and Liaisons
  • Monitor aging reports and past-due accounts; identify trends and prioritize high-risk exposure
  • Handle complex or escalated collection matters, including disputed invoices and multi-party billing issues
  • Coordinate directly with attorneys and partners on collection strategy for their matters
  • Maintain client contact as needed to resolve disputes and drive prompt payment resolution
Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare management reporting on collections performance, aging, and key metrics for department and firm leadership

  • Lead or contribute to quarterly collections initiatives and recommend enhancements to workflows and procedures
  • Manage and develop a team of collectors and/or Liaisons, including performance management and training
  • Develop and refine departmental procedures and best practices
  • Support cross-office coordination on collections and AR reporting alignment (US and international offices).
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 5+ years of collections experience in a law firm or professional services environment (law firm strongly preferred); 2+ years in a management or supervisory capacity
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive conversations with attorneys and clients
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume portfolio and competing deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with 3E or similar legal billing/collections software
  • Familiarity with legal billing practices, engagement letters, and outside counsel guidelines
  • Experience supporting or managing a tiered collections structure (e.g., collectors, clerks)
  • Exposure to multi-jurisdictional or multi-currency AR portfolios
