Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Negotiate stipulations of settlement and resolve outstanding balances.
• Prepare post- and pre-judgment enforcement, including garnishments and asset searches.
• Draft pleadings, affidavits, and related filings; manage e-filing.
• Attend hearings and liaise with the court on active matters.
• Coordinate with sheriff's/marshal's offices on writs, seizures, and levies.
• File proofs of claim; monitor bankruptcy cases.
• Manage outside counsel workload and partner with international collections team.

Collections Attorney - Rapidly Growing Fintech

South, FL | Remote (must be able to attend hearings in person in Miami-Dade County)

About the Company

A fast-growing fintech company founded by pioneers in alternative small business financing, providing capital to small and mid-sized businesses through business cards and lines of credit. The company is in a period of rapid growth, with teams across the US and internationally, and is building out its legal recovery function.

The Role

This is a ground-floor opportunity to take real ownership of the company's asset recovery process. Reporting to the General Counsel, the Collections Attorney will handle prejudgment and post-judgment recovery, appear at hearings, manage outside counsel, and help streamline and scale collections operations alongside an international team.

Key Responsibilities

• Negotiate stipulations of settlement and resolve outstanding balances
• Prepare and pursue post-judgment enforcement, including garnishments, income and property executions, bank restraints, and asset searches
• Draft pleadings, affidavits, and related filings, and manage e-filing
• Attend hearings and serve as liaison with the court on active matters
• Coordinate with local sheriff's and marshal's offices on writs, orders of seizure, and levies
• File proofs of claim and monitor bankruptcy cases
• Manage the workload of outside counsel, monitoring cost, timeliness, and quality, and partner closely with the international collections team

Qualifications

• JD and active Florida Bar license
• 1–3 years of relevant experience, ideally 1–2 years in collections (consumer or commercial)
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing priorities
• Personable, collaborative, and highly ethical, with strong discretion

Preferred

• Law firm experience in creditors' rights or collections
• Coursework or experience in secured transactions, UCC, accounting, or finance
• Bankruptcy or post-judgment enforcement exposure
• Familiarity with Salesforce or another CRM
