Job summary

Brown University’s Haffenreffer Museum seeks a Collections Assistant to document, rehouse, and track archaeological, ethnographic, and archival materials. You will assist with the Bristol-to-Providence move and support use of objects in exhibitions, teaching, research, and loans.

The position is a full-time term appointment funded by the Mellon Foundation through Aug 31, 2027, requiring a B.A./B.S. in a related field and at least one year of collection management experience.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of professional collection management or registration experience.
• Knowledge of preventive conservation for cultural property.

Responsibilities

• Document, assess, rehouse, pack/unpack, and track collections.
• Support move of Haffenreffer Museum collections from Bristol to Providence.
• Support use of objects in exhibitions, teaching, research, and loans.
• Collaborate with Collections Manager/Registrar.
