Job summary
LU Service Corp. in Gold Canyon, AZ, is seeking a Collection/Wastewater Operator Level III or Level IV to perform field duties, analyze emergencies, lead Liberty staff, and ensure safe operations.
Requirements include a Grade 3 Water Distribution Certificate (Grade 4 preferred), a high school diploma or GED, Class A driver's license, 5 years in water utility, and CIS experience. The role may involve standby shifts and occasional travel.
Qualifications
- Must possess a Grade 3 Water Distribution Certificate, or have the ability to obtain within 18 months. Grade 4 Water Distribution Certificate desired.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record; Class A driver's license required (location specific)
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of related experience in water utility
- Be proficient in the use and functions of the (C.I.S.) Customer Information System Program
- Must be able to work independently and responsibly with minimal supervision and function in a team environment
- Must have basic computer skills, including PC Windows operations knowledge and experience with communication devices
- Able to follow Company rules, procedures, and directions from a supervisor and/or Management
- Maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including, but not limited to, supervisors, coworkers, public, vendors, contractors, etc.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for making thorough analysis and decisions of job details and emergencies
- Organize, lead, and direct Liberty staff and contractors as required
- Assists in creating annual meter reading and weekly lock-off schedules
- Maintains and accounts for all tools and equipment and assigned vehicles
- Fills out all paperwork on daily job safety inspection sheets
- Performs leak repairs, maintains mains, fire hydrants, installation of new services, setting meters, changing out meters, and repairs services as needed
- Completes all service orders and paperwork assigned daily
- Operates various hand and power tools and mechanical equipment while installing, operating, and repairing mains, services, meters, valves, and fire hydrants
- Helps install, tap, re-line, disinfect, test, and connect water mains and appurtenances
- Involved in shutdowns, repairs, disinfects, and restores water service to customers and tests for leaks
- May take water quality samples
- Safely set up work area traffic controls
- Repairs, disinfects, and tests broken water mains
- Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor, EHS Manager, and/or Human Resources
- Attends and participates in weekly safety meetings
- Perform and interpret meter testing and update CIS with test results

Responsible for carrying out all field related job details as related to the water industry. Responsible for carrying out and enforcing all safety rules to assure a safe workplace. Responsible for leading and directing Liberty and contractor crews. Ability to perform as a lead operator in absence of Supervisor of Field Service.

- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, with internal and external customers under normal and adverse conditions
- Must communicate well with co-workers and display a positive attitude and leadership ability in work-related and safety issues
- Must be able to make own decisions in emergency situations and meet the public under normal and adverse conditions
