Mon - Fri: 8 AM - 5 PM (40 Hours)

What You'll Do

Summary/Objective:

Contact members with delinquent accounts and overdrawn shares facing financial difficulty to assist them in restoring their good standing with the Credit Union. Maintain the department's financial health by managing delinquency and charge-off ratios. Support fellow collectors in increasing their knowledge, negotiation skills, and making effective decisions.

Essential Functions:

  • Answer incoming member contacts (calls, emails, faxes), work collection queues, and make outbound calls.
  • Review and document account status, initiate contact on delinquent loans.
  • Research accounts for errors and correct them promptly.
  • Prepare correspondence via USPS mail, certified mail, or email.
  • Determine reasons for delinquency and refer members to BALANCE when needed.
  • Perform skip tracing following compliance procedures.
  • Establish and monitor payment plans.
  • Handle repossessions and foreclosures processes.
  • Pull Credit Bureau reports as necessary.
  • Review and recommend loan rewrites or settlements.
  • Achieve monthly goals.
  • Handle calls from Back End Hunt Group and escalate calls as needed.
  • Assist in training new hires.
  • Facilitate team meetings on a rotating basis.
  • Manage dialer and related systems.
  • Develop leadership skills and serve as backup Team Leader.
  • Adhere to all laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Suggest process improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of experience in consumer or mortgage collections preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Completion of leadership training programs preferred.

Additional Eligibility:

  • Experience in call centers or financial institutions preferred.
  • Knowledge of collection laws.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
