Job summary

Coastal Waste & Recycling Inc. in North Carolina is seeking a Collection Specialist to work with a Driver to collect residential, commercial, and industrial waste and recyclables, while upholding safety and customer service.

You will help as spotter during backing maneuvers, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and support teammates on the route. A valid driver’s license is preferred but not required; bilingual candidates are encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a Driver to collect residential, commercial, and industrial waste and recyclables.
• Safely lift, move, and load carts, containers, and bags into collection vehicles.
• Serve as the Driver's spotter during backing maneuvers and provide visual guidance.
• Maintain awareness of hazards, pedestrians, and traffic for safe operations.
• Assist with vehicle inspections and report any safety concerns.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service and wear PPE as required.
• Support other collection teams or tasks as directed by management.

We believe safety comes first, teamwork drives results, and every route is an opportunity to serve our customers and communities with pride.Your RoleAs a Collection Specialist, you'll work alongside a Driver to safely and efficiently complete collection routes while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork. You'll help ensure every stop is completed safely by serving as the Driver's spotter during all backing maneuvers, identifying potential hazards, and supporting efficient route completion.What You'll DoPartner with a Driver to safely collect residential, commercial, and industrial waste and recyclable materials.Safely lift, move, empty, and load carts, containers, bags, and other collection receptacles into collection vehicles.Serve as the Driver's spotter during every backing maneuver by exiting the vehicle, positioning yourself safely, and providing continuous visual guidance until the backing maneuver is complete.Maintain awareness of traffic, pedestrians, overhead obstructions, and other potential hazards while helping ensure safe operations throughout the route.Assist with pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report equipment or safety concerns.Provide friendly, professional customer service while interacting with customers and the public.Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all company safety policies and procedures.At Kirby's, we win as a team.
