Job summary

RR Donnelley in Osage, IA is seeking a Printing and Bindery Specialist for the 1st shift (Mon–Fri, 7am–3pm) with starting pay of $22.44/hr and potential overtime including weekends. You will set up and operate collating and labeling machines to produce value-added enhancements per customer specs.

Responsibilities include reviewing specs, configuring equipment for web rolls, applying labels, perforating, folding, and cutting, while maintaining safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret written work orders or specifications.
• Knowledge of paper stock quality and machining requirements.
• Skill in setting up and adjusting machines for finishing operations.
• Must be able to calculate distances, clearances, and fits in combining machines.
• Skill in using standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain machines.
• General knowledge of collating/label application machines for folding, gluing, perforating and cutting.

Job Description

Starting min rate of $22.44hr

Schedule

• Monday - Friday
• 7am - 3pm
• Occasional overtime may be required including weekends

• Sets up and operates collating and/or labeling/patching machines to produce value added enhancements to in-process work
• Review specifications and set up equipment that perform forms collating from web rolls, label affixing, or window patching to printed or in-process materials specific to the customer's requirements
• Equipment operated may perform functions related to assembling and perforating signatures, stapling, gluing, folding, or cutting sheets of paper, forms, or signatures in specified sequence to form completed sets or die cut and apply labels or films to paper substrates
• Perform safety inspections, document problems, and track production during operation

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret written work orders or other job specifications containing collating requirements which indicate the number and sequence of webs required to complete the work and to maintain dimensional accuracy in accordance with instructions provided
• Knowledge of the quality and machining requirements of various coated and uncoated types of paper stock
• Skill in setting up and adjusting machines for finishing operations and to refine such adjustments for the weight, color, machinability and quality of paper stock being used and to prevent machining impressions on the printed materials
• Must be able to calculate distances, clearances, and fits in combining machines
• Skill in using the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating conditions of the collating machines
• General knowledge of the collating/label application machines to perform the full range of standard and specialized folds, gluing, perforating and cutting of printed materials
• Thorough knowledge of the set up, operating requirements, procedures, capabilities and limitations of the collating machine to perform the full range of standard and specialized folding, collating and cutting of printed materials to complete a combined finishing product

Additional Information

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $22.44 - $31.61 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficient, performance, shift, and location. In addition to the base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include a sign-on bonus, overtime, shift differential, call-in and stand-by pay.
