Job summary

Coosa Valley Credit Union is seeking a Collateral Specialist to manage and maintain collateral documentation for consumer and commercial loans. You will ensure proper documentation, perfected liens, and timely releases in line with policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include reviewing loan files, processing titles and UCC filings, tracking collateral, and supporting audits. Join a team dedicated to serving members and upholding strong compliance and risk practices.

Role:

Demonstrate CVCU Culture and Values while managing and maintaining collateral documentation associated with consumer, commercial, and other secured loans. Ensures that collateral is properly documented, perfected, tracked, and released in accordance with credit union policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable state and federal laws. Expected to understand and comply with job related regulatory requirements including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending Regulations.

Job Description:

Collateral Documentation & Perfection Management:

• Review loan documentation to ensure collateral requirements are complete, accurate, and compliant.
• Process and maintain vehicle titles, liens, UCC filings, mortgages, and other collateral-related documentation.
• Verify lien placement and ensure the credit union's security interest is properly perfected.
• Process lien releases, title releases, collateral substitutions, and paid-off loan documentation.

Collateral Tracking & Exception Resolution:

• Monitor and track outstanding titles, insurance documentation, lien recordings, and other collateral requirements.
• Identify, research, and resolve collateral, lien, and title discrepancies.
• Monitor collateral exceptions and follow up on missing, incomplete, or inaccurate documentation.
• Ensure collateral records are updated following loan modifications, refinances, and payoffs.

Records Management & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate collateral records within loan servicing and document management systems.
• Prepare reports and maintain records related to collateral tracking, exceptions, and portfolio monitoring.
• Ensure documentation is organized, accessible, and audit-ready.

Member, Vendor & Internal Partner Support:

• Coordinate with members, dealerships, insurance companies, government agencies, lenders, and other third parties to obtain required documentation.
• Serve as a resource for loan officers, processors, and servicing staff regarding collateral-related questions and issues.
• Facilitate timely resolution of documentation and collateral concerns.

Compliance, Risk Management & Audit Support:

• Adhere to credit union policies, procedures, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Protect confidential member information and maintain privacy and security standards.
• Support internal and external audits by providing requested collateral documentation and reports.

Other Administrative & Departmental Support:

• Participate in departmental initiatives, process improvements, and special projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
