Job description

DecisiveInstincts is hiring a Senior Subject Matter Expert (Applications) - Remote but must be able to travel to Clarksburg, VA. This position requires a secret clearance.

Responsibilities:
  1. Lead enterprise-level configuration, customization, and optimization of Atlassian tools to ensure scalability, performance, and alignment with organizational workflows.
  2. Design and implement integrations between Atlassian tools and other enterprise systems (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, version control).
  3. Develop and automate processes using Jira Automation, REST APIs, Groovy, or Python.
  4. Provide tiered support, manage user permissions, security configurations, and enforce standardized governance across Atlassian platforms.
  5. Collaborate with stakeholders to drive tool adoption, deliver user training, and produce technical documentation, including FISMA-related compliance artifacts.
  6. Experience working in an Agile/SAFe environment using Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.
Requirements:
  1. Minimum of 8 years’ experience in enterprise-level Atlassian tool management. Certifications or past work may substitute for experience.
  2. Minimum 5 years in Atlassian customization, integration, and automation. At least 2 years managing Atlassian infrastructure in AWS.
  3. Proven expertise in AWS GovCloud environments supporting enterprise COTS applications.
  4. Strong DevOps and automation experience aligned with Atlassian ecosystems.
  5. Strong leadership in supporting collaboration platforms and enforcing enterprise standards.
  6. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  7. Preferred certifications include Atlassian Certified Expert, Jira Administrator, Confluence Administrator, SAFe Program Consultant, AWS Solutions Architect, Scrum Professional, or CISSP.
