Job summary

The Ithaca City School District is seeking an Accompanist to provide live piano accompaniment for our middle/high school musical theater program. The role requires advanced piano skills, strong collaboration with directors, choreographers, and student performers, and a passion for mentoring young artists.

Qualifications

• Proficient piano skills with a strong understanding of musical theater repertoire and vocal accompaniment techniques.
• Previous experience as a collaborative pianist in educational or professional settings is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret sheet music fluently, with improvisation and adapting to different musical styles.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering a supportive environment for young performers.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced rehearsal setting.
• A genuine appreciation for and understanding of the challenges and dynamics involved in working with middle and high school students in a performing arts context.
