Job summary

MultiCare Behavioral Health Network is seeking an Integrated Mental Health Therapist for our primary care clinics in the Puget Sound area. The role operates within a multidisciplinary team embedded in primary care, delivering evidence-based behavioral health services to diverse patients.

The position emphasizes assessment, treatment planning, medication collaboration with PCPs, and crisis management, with standard weekday hours and opportunities for professional growth within a supportive system.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field.
• Licensed or eligible LMFT/LMHC/LICSW as defined in HB 1724.
• Minimum two years of behavioral health experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient symptoms and create customized treatment plans.
• Screen patients for PHQ9, GAD7, Columbia Suicide Risk, or equivalents.
• Monitor clinical symptoms and side effects to reduce symptoms.
• Support psychotropic medication management prescribed by PCPs, focusing on adherence and effects.
• Track patient follow-up and outcomes using a registry and re-engage patients.
• Facilitate care plan changes for non-responding patients and arrange referrals as needed.
• Manage behavioral health crises in a primary care setting.
• Provide flexible behavioral health services, including warm handoffs during medical visits.

The Integrated Mental Health Therapist (IMHT) works within a multidisciplinary team embedded in the primary care clinic and utilizes the Collaborative Care model of care. This team includes the IMHT, Psychiatric Consultant, & Primary Care Provider to provide comprehensive behavioral health services within the primary care setting. IMHT will provide evidence-based interventions, in partnership with the treatment team, to promote symptom reduction and optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient’s symptoms and create customized treatment plan based on individual patient needs
• Screens patients for common behavioral health disorders using PHQ9, GAD7, Columbia Suicide Risk Assessment, or other tools as required.
• Monitors patients for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects/complications, with a goal of reduction in symptoms.
• Supports psychotropic medication management prescribed by PCPs, focusing on treatment adherence, side effects and other complications, and treatment effectiveness.
• Tracks patient follow-up and clinical outcomes using a registry, and uses the system to identify and re-engage patients
• Facilitates care plan changes for patients who are not improving, including changes in medications or psychosocial treatments or appropriate referrals for additional services.
• Manages behavioral health crisis as they arise in a primary care setting.
• Provides flexible behavioral health services to patients on and off current caseload, both through scheduled appointments and immediate interventions via warm handoffs during medical visits with primary care providers.

FTE: 1.0, Shift: 8:00AM - 5:00PM, Schedule: Monday - Friday

Position Summary

The Licensed Integrated Mental Health Therapist-BHN is responsible for independently providing assessments, treatment/care planning and psychosocial therapy within a primary care clinic setting for a diverse population of preventative, acute care and chronic disease management patients. The incumbent uses a variety of theoretical treatment models and interventions and excellent communication skills to work within a primary care/chronic disease management team setting with limited supervision; documents treatment/communication in keeping with department standards and keeps current on community resources to effectively provide linkage and advocacy to fulfill client’s needs.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field
• A Mental Health Professional as defined within HB 1724 one of these higher credentials are held: Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), SW Independent Clinical Lic (LICSW)
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in a behavioral health setting

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $42.64 - $61.37 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
