Thriveworks is seeking a board-certified Psychiatrist to serve as Collaborating Physician for PMHNPs and provide part-time direct psychiatric care. The role combines clinical work with supervisory duties, in a nationwide hybrid care model based in Tennessee.

You will supervise PMHNPs, conduct evaluations, and lead treatment planning while maintaining regulatory compliance and high-quality patient care in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with Psychiatry residency.
• Board Certification in Psychiatry (ABPN).
• Active and unrestricted medical license in multiple states, or willingness to obtain multiple licenses.
• Minimum of 2 years post-residency experience, preferably with supervisory or collaborative PMHNP experience.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and mentorship skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical supervision to PMHNPs per state regulations.
• Participate in chart reviews, case consultations, and quality assurance.
• Support PMHNPs in complex evaluations and treatment planning.
• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation in the EMR and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.

This dual role allows for meaningful clinical engagement alongside leadership and oversight responsibilities. Ideal candidates are passionate about team-based mental health care, evidence-based treatment, and supportive collaboration with advanced practice cliniciansKey Responsibilities:Collaborating Psychiatrist Duties:Provide clinical supervision and support to PMHNPs in accordance with state laws and psychiatric board regulations.Participate in initial and ongoing chart reviews, case consultations, and quality assurance activities.Support PMHNPs in complex psychiatric evaluations, differential diagnosis, and treatment planning as needed.Ensure compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements for psychiatric NP supervision.Contribute to ongoing clinical education, best practice implementation, and policy development.Clinical (Patient-Facing) Duties:Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management sessions.Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.Provide evidence-based psychiatric care for a range of mental health conditions (e.g., mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, ADHD, etc.).Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, including therapists, case managers, and social workers.Maintain up-to-date clinical documentation within the EMR system.Qualifications:Medical Degree (MD or DO) with residency training in Psychiatry.Board Certification in Psychiatry (ABPN).Active and unrestricted medical license in multiple states, or willing to get licensed in multiple statesMinimum of 2 years of post-residency experience, preferably with supervisory or collaborative experience with PMHNPs.Deep understanding of the NP scope of practice in psychiatry and relevant state regulations.Strong interpersonal, communication, and mentorship skills.Located in TennesseePreferred Qualifications:Experience in outpatient psychiatry and/or telepsychiatry settings.Familiarity with trauma-informed care, integrated care, and/or addiction psychiatry (a plus).Multistate licensure or willingness to obtain additional licenses (if telehealth is part of the model).Experience with EMR systems and virtual collaboration tools.Work Schedule:Supervisory / Collaboration: 10 hours/week (flexible; may include chart review, virtual meetings, and ad-hoc consultations).Clinical Hours: 30 hours/week,(60 - 70 sessions) depending on caseload and availability.Flexibility in schedule and work location (telepsychiatry options available).Compensation & Benefits:Competitive hourly or per-encounter compensationMalpractice insurance providedFlexible scheduling4 weeks Paid Time OffCME allowanceOpportunity for long-term leadership growth within the organizationAbout Us:Thriveworks is a mission-driven mental health practice committed to delivering accessible, compassionate, and evidence-based psychiatric care.
