Job summary

University of Southern California is seeking a Resource Employee - Grounds Staff for the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to maintain athletic fields and landscaped areas across the venue, ensuring surfaces are ready for events and competitions.

The role requires basic knowledge of field sports and gardening, the use of power tools, and a commitment to safety. Schedule includes nights and weekends; lifting up to 50 lbs is preferred; 1000-hour cap within a rolling 12-month period.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience: 0 - 6 months.
• Minimum Field of Expertise: Basic knowledge of field sports, gardening and ground maintenance.
• Demonstrated use of tools and equipment (including power tools).
• Minimal familiarity with common plant species, landscaping and cultivation.
• Familiar with standard safety practices using equipment and other requirements for workplace safety.
• In addition, the successful candidate must also demonstrate, through ideas, words and actions, a strong commitment to USC’s Unifying Values.

Responsibilities

• Maintains condition and appearance of athletic fields and surfaces.
• Prepares fields and stadiums for sports activities by lining, marking, turf maintenance and fertilization.
• Uses and maintains power tools and other equipment.
• Prepares soil for planting.
• Sweeps walkways and maintains paved areas.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
