WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Independently sets up andoperatesthe cold heading machine and the thread rolling machine. Performs the job of cold heading / thread rolling cell operator in its entirety as assigned.
- Receives general directions from team leader and works from set up sheets, detailed machine parts drawings, machine manuals, specifications, tool charts and instructions using micrometer, optical comparator, ifrequiredan overlay, and Vernier calipers.
- As necessary, trouble shoots, replaces worn and broken tooling and parts, diagnoses and repairs machine malfunctions, reset tooling, gauges work, and makes all machine adjustments necessary to produce parts within specifications.
- WillassistB and C Cold Header Thread Roller Cell Operators asrequired.
- Will obtain correct check sheet and manufacturing drawings and routers from Cold Heading tool crib area.
- Obtains from Cold Heading Department Store, correct machine tooling kit.
- Removes old set up tooling.
- Following the BOM, installsnewset up of machine tooling tooperatethe cold header and thread roller machines at specified speeds and feeds to producegood workto quality specifications.
- As necessary,removesold steel wire stock andinstallsnew wire stock.
- Threads steel wire stock from coil through quill and cutter.
- Makes test run of new pieces, inspects and verifies dimensions against drawingpecificationand overlay comparator as per the applicable department procedures.
- Asnecessaryremoves old tooling from the thread roller, installs new tools as per the BOM and set up requirements.
- Makes test run of new pieces, inspects and verifies dimensions against drawing specifications, overly requirements and gaging procedures as per the department procedures applicable.
- Observes automatic operation of the cold header and thread roller machine toassurecomplianceofall applicable standards and procedures.
- Inspects and gauges completed parts from both machines pan to verify correct dimensions and profile against drawing specification
- Makes adjustments tomachines asnecessary to produce good quality parts. Dumpspansaccording to product control plan (Approximately 5-15pounds in weight) maybe requiredto periodically handle pans 40 pounds maximum weight.
- Detects and straightens kinks in wire stock.
- The “A” operator should be able tooperatemost equipment within the department in a proficient and professional manner.
- Through expertise andexperienceisable tomaximizethe machineefficiency and minimize downtime.
- Performs other duties asrequired.
Shift: 2nd shift
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic computer skills.
- Mechanical Ability.
- 5 plus years of Cold Heading and/or Thready Rolling experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift approximately 40 lbs. from floor level to waist, and waist to floor approximately 25 times per hour.
- Must be able to standapproximately 8-10hrs./day.
- Visual acuity for detailed work.
- Mechanical ability
- Able to bend, twist, and squat in sometimes awkward positions for prolonged periods of time while exerting force (pushing or pulling) on hand tools to adjust machine.
