Job summary

PennEngineering in Danboro, PA is seeking a motivated individual to join our Manufacturing Team as a Cold Forming C Operator. This entry‑level role trains on the job to set up and operate cold forming machines, progressing from C1 to C4, with no prior experience required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• No cold forming experience required — paid on‑the‑job training provided.
• Proven mechanical ability preferred.
• Basic computer, reading and math skills.
• Willingness to learn to read blueprints and use micrometers/calipers.
• Must communicate effectively with co‑workers on a routine basis.

Responsibilities

• Begins the cold forming training program with no prior experience, learning machine operation and progressing toward C1 to C4 levels.
• Under close supervision, safely operates a minimum of one cold forming machine.
• Reads setup sheets and drawings to set up and run parts.
• Observes and monitors the automatic operation of cold forming machines.
• Performs routine maintenance and verifies gages are calibrated prior to use.
• Completes time, production and quality reports; logs attendance and records.
• Participates in daily team meetings and continuous improvement activities.

Manufacturing Team

PennEngineering is seeking a motivated, excited, individual to be a part of our Manufacturing Team. As the Cold Forming C Operator at PennEngineering, you’ll collaborate with teams that do truly amazing things. The cold forming C operator is an entry-level position with no prior cold forming experience required. The operator will learn to set up and operate cold forming machines that forge parts from wire stock while beginning the cold forming training program towards completion of C1 to C4.

What You Will Do

• Begins the cold forming training program with no prior cold forming experience required, learning machine operation on the job and progressing toward the level of Cold Forming Operator C levels C1 to C4.
• Under close supervision, safely operates a minimum of one cold forming machine.
• Receives close supervision from team leader and works from set up sheets, detailed machine parts drawings, machine manuals, specifications, tool charts and instruction using micrometers and hand tools.
• Observes and monitors the automatic operation of cold forming machines.
• Learns cold forming fundamentals, including upsetting, backward and forward extrusion and piercing, through on the job training and instruction.
• Inspects and gauges completed parts from every pan to verify correct dimensions and profile against drawing specifications and notifies team leader if parts are outside of drawing tolerances. May make the necessary adjustment to machine as necessary to produce good quality parts.
• Learns to troubleshoot, remove, repair and replace machine tooling to produce quality product as the operator’s training program progresses.
• Completes paperwork and statistical process control (SPC) charts as necessary.
• Detects and reports parts that are out of specification, along with faulty machine operation, defective material and equipment and drawing discrepancies, to leadership.
• Tags containers to ensure product traceability.
• Verifies correct raw material is being utilized to produce product.
• Find and follow department procedures on computer.
• Segregate, document and control non-conforming product.
• Performs routine machine maintenance, including adding oil, and maintaining cleanliness of the work area.
• Completes time, production and quality reports as necessary.
• Logs on and off time and attendance system properly.
• Collaborates with operators from other shifts to transmit and exchange information pertinent to the current work.
• Move product, scrap and slugs as needed to proper area.
• Keeps work area organized and clean at all times.
• Verifies all gages are calibrated prior to use.
• Participates in daily stretching activities, team meetings and works well with team members.
• Actively participates in continuous improvement activities to assist team in meeting goals including Dynamite Idea program, reporting near misses and 6S.
• Observes all safety regulations in all duties.
• Performs other tasks as required.

Requirements

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No cold forming experience required — paid training is provided on the job.
• Proven mechanical ability preferred.
• Basic computer, reading and math skills.
• Willingness to learn the use of micrometers, calipers, comparators, gages, hand tools, etc.
• Willingness to learn to read and understand blueprints.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers on a routine basis.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift approximately 40 lbs.
• Must be able to stand approximately 8 – 10 hours a day.
• Able to bend, twist, and squat in sometimes awkward positions for prolonged periods of time while exerting force (pushing or pulling) on hand tools used to adjust the machine.
• Visual acuity for detailed work.
• Manual dexterity.
• Clear communication skills.
