Job summary

MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Cold Heading Operator Trainee for our Chesterfield, MI facility. You will learn cold heading operations, perform machine setup, adjustments, and basic troubleshooting while supporting safe, efficient production and quality checks.

In this role, you will rotate from 1st shift to 2nd shift after training, with pay between $18 and $20 per hour and a shift differential for the 2nd shift. Overtime is occasional. This full-time, on-site position includes comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• No specific formal education requirement.
• Basic math skills for counting and recording production.
• Mechanical aptitude to learn machine operation and maintenance.
• Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions and SOPs.
• Attention to detail and use of gauges and quality practices.
• Ability to collect, record, and enter production data accurately.
• Strong communication and teamwork; report concerns promptly.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or different shifts.

Responsibilities

• Learn cold heading machine operation and basic maintenance.
• Support changeovers, setup, and equipment preparation.
• Conduct lubrication, oil changes, and minor repairs with Maintenance help.
• Perform cleaning per 5S standards and schedule.
• Inspect parts, perform first/last-piece checks, and verify quality.
• Record production and downtime data in systems.
• Maintain clean, safe machines and work areas; follow safety procedures.
• Report malfunctions, quality concerns, and production shortages promptly.
