Job summary

Avantus Aerospace USA, based in Paramount, CA, seeks an experienced header man to set up and operate cold forming lines, automatically shaping parts to blueprint specifications and set-up charts.

You will tear down and reconfigure lines, perform first-run inspections and periodic quality checks, maintain equipment, install tooling, read blueprints, measure parts, and lift up to 35 lbs. ITAR and US person requirements apply.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience as a header man.
• Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
• Able to read, comprehend, and execute directions from mechanical drawings.
• Able to measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
• Reads blueprint or job order for product specification such as dimensions, tolerance, number, or parts to be checked.

Responsibilities

• Tear down, set up and operate multiple product lines to specified tolerances of hot or cold headers or trimmers to produce metal parts.
• Conduct First run inspection and periodic quality checks
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment including cleaning, lubricating, adding fluids, check air pressure and oil levels.
• Installs cold heading tooling in machines.
• Sets up and installs various support equipment.
• Computes feed length and progression to produce quality parts.
• Establishes processing parameters and sets monitoring equipment to ensure processing parameters are maintained to produce quality parts.
• Reads measuring equipment such as shadowgraphs, micrometers, calipers, and related equipment.
• Performs minor die repairs and modifications to include sharpening and adjustments to maintain integrity of parts.
• Runs wire through machine.
• Moves stock to and from machine.
• Moves containers of finished parts.
• Lifting to 35 lbs.
