Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience with progressive type cold headers. Experience with National headers preferred.
• Prior Tow Motor experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Prior experience using micrometers, calipers and other gauges.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate progressive cold header machines.
• Change tooling for job setup and replace broken tooling.
• Retrieve tooling from Tool & Die Department and return broken tooling for repair.
• Straighten steel coil, butt weld and grind ends before loading into machine.
• Adjust machine settings to meet specifications.
• Read shop orders and produce parts to blueprint specifications.
• Use gauges to check product and ensure parts meet specs.
• Enter production into kiosk and move product to next operation.
• Perform daily maintenance on machines.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace following safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Overview:

Responsible for setup and operation of header machines using raw materials to produce finished parts.

What You'll Do

As a Cold Header Setup Operator, you'll be part of our team located in Elyria, OH. You'll get to:

• Setup and operate progressive type cold headers.
• Change tooling for job setup, replace broken tooling and make adjustments as necessary.
• Retrieve tooling from the Tool & Die Department and return broken tooling for repair.
• Manually straighten steel coil, butt weld and grind end prior to loading into machine.
• Adjust machine settings as required.
• Read & interpret shop order to produce parts to blueprint specifications.
• Use appropriate gauges to check product and ensure that parts meet quality specifications.
• Enter production into kiosk and move product to next operation.
• Perform daily maintenance on machines.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace. Follow all health and safety regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment requiring the employee to stand and walk for majority of an 8 to 10-hour day.

• Bend, lift product, equipment and tools up to 50 pounds throughout the day.
• Push or pull product up to 200 pounds.
• Use hand tools up to 20 pounds over extended periods of time.
