Job summary

Compass Group is seeking a full-time deli cook/prep at the Richmond location. The role involves slicing meats and cheeses, assembling sandwiches and salads, and adhering to HACCP and ServSafe standards. Weekend shifts and rotating schedules are required; a $500 sign-on bonus is offered with half paid at 30 days and half at 90 days.

The candidate should have 1 year of cooking or prep experience. The position includes free parking and a weekend shift differential of $1.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Obtains daily production schedule and preparation requirements from Chef.
• Prepares sandwich meats, cheeses, condiments and salads using approved production standards.
• Stocks and replenishes deli/cold products and condiments following merchandising guidelines.
• Transfers pans, kettles and trays of food to and from workstation, stove and refrigerator.
• Stores food in designated areas following HACCP standard wrapping, dating and rotation procedures.
• Cleans, sanitizes and maintains counters, work surfaces, refrigeration units and floors.
• Operates slicing machine to achieve desired thickness.
• Maintains clean, safe work environment to comply with sanitation, ServSafe and safety requirements.

• Full‑time COLD FOOD (SALAD) position.
• Location: VCU Health – 1250 East Marshall Street, Richmond, VA 23298.
• Schedule: Full‑time; days and hours may vary with rotating weekends.
• Requirement: 1 year of previous cooking or prep experience.
• Perks: $500 sign‑on bonus (half at 30 days, half at 90 days), free parking, and $1.00 per hour weekend shift differential.
• Pay Range: $17.25 to $17.50 per hour.

Job Summary

Cuts delicatessen meats, vegetables and cheeses with slicing machine, knives or other cutters. Prepares and serves sandwiches, salads and other cold food items.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Obtains daily production schedule and preparation requirements from Chef.
• Prepares sandwich meats, cheeses, condiments and salads using approved production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
• Stocks and replenishes deli/cold products and condiments following approved merchandising guidelines.
• Transfers pans, kettles and trays of food to and from workstation, stove and refrigerator.
• Stores food in designated areas following HACCP standard wrapping, dating and rotation procedures.
• Cleans, sanitizes and maintains counters, work surfaces, refrigeration units and floors in the preparation and serving areas.
• Places meat or cheese on cutting board and cuts slices to designated thickness; operates slicing machine to achieve desired thickness.
• Interacts with coworkers to ensure compliance with company service standards, inventory and cash control procedures.
• Maintains clean, safe work environment to comply with sanitation, ServSafe and safety requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1 year of previous cooking or prep experience.
• Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• Eligibility to perform Florida Level 2 background screening if required.
