The City of New York, Bronx County's Office of the District Attorney (BXDA), seeks an experienced Cold Case Investigator for the Forensic Sciences Unit. The role focuses on reviewing and cataloging cold homicide and sexual assault cases to locate and prioritize work for long-term investigations.

Qualifications

• Must have NYS Basic Course certificate or be eligible for Police Officer Refresher.
• Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must pass a psychological and physical exam and a background check.
• Must be qualified to carry a firearm.
• Experience in NYC criminal justice system or as a NY police officer is a plus.
• Knowledge of homicides, robberies, grand larceny, financial crimes, fraud, and identity theft preferred.
• U.S. citizenship required per NY Public Officers Law 2, 3-B.
• Ability to testify before juries and conduct confidential investigations.
• Assist investigators with electronic equipment usage.
• Prepare reports and maintain records.
• Participate in protective details and witness management.
• Assist NYPD Cold Case Detectives and travel for extraditions.
• All other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough investigations discreetly as assigned.
• Mentor and assist junior investigators.
• Continuing case management and review.
• Provide status updates to the Chief and Deputy Chief.
• Access and utilize computer databases.
• Liaise with other law enforcement agencies and government and financial institutions.
• Assist investigators and ADAs in court preparation.
