Qualifications

Job description

Reporting to the Site Manager, and under the direction of the Coiled Tubing Supervisor, the Coiled Tubing Operator 1 is responsible for assisting in the efficient execution of various coiled tubing operations to meet client’s needs while learning about coiled tubing equipment operations.

  • Learn how to conduct calculations for the job at the well site as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with Coiled Tubing Supervisors, Site Managers and crews during the planning, coordination and execution of STEP Energy Services operations.
  • Learn and review the different treatment programs with the Coiled Tubing Supervisor or Site Manager.
  • Participate and learn about pre-job activities prior to leaving the shop or location to ensure the following:
    • Required permits and pre-trips are obtained prior to travel.
    • Documentation is available for compliance with the Department of Transportation regulations.
    • Ensures adequate PPE and safety certifications are obtained.
    • Ensures MSDS Binders and SOP Manuals are updated and available on site.
  • Provides feedback to Coiled Tubing Supervisor or Site Manager on the changing lease, road and equipment conditions as they occur.
  • On the advice of the Coiled Tubing Supervisor or Site Manager assist in spotting all equipment in accordance to government regulations.
  • Assists in the rig up (assembly) and rig-out (disassembly) of the coiled tubing unit, crane, nitrogen and fluid pumping equipment with guidance and direction from Coiled Tubing Supervisor or Site Manager.
  • Assist and participates in pre-job and hazard assessments on location and provide feedback to Coiled Tubing Supervisor or Site Manager as required.
  • Completes all paperwork in a professional manner and submitted as per STEP Energy Services procedures.
  • Ensures all Workplace Safety, OHA, and HSE policies and regulations are adhered to all times.
  • Conveys all safety concerns to Coiled Tubing Supervisor or Site Manager.
  • Learn various functions and basic mechanical understanding of the rig to others.
  • Learn and apply knowledge to carry out procedures as directed.
  • Under direction of the Coiled Tubing Supervisor or Site Manager, maintain transport trailer units, brakes, operating components, trailer and tractor air systems, etc.
  • Learn how to maintain and document maintenance in alignment with STEP’s preventative maintenance program. (This includes being familiar with all oils used on the rig and using same procedures and sample points, etc).
  • Learn and develop a basic knowledge of the operation of associated equipment.
  • Follow all STEP JSA’s and ability to alter as job scope changes.
  • Conduct all duties with a safe mindset and a personal and professional commitment to STEP’s Core Values.
  • Identify hazards or potential hazards in all workplaces.
  • Be aware of and participate in the execution of the Emergency Response Plan (ERP), and weekly BOP Drills, etc.
  • Learn and develop skills on how to fill out all required documentation such as pre-operation inspections, safety meetings, Hazard ID’s, JSA’s, etc.
  • Daily review of Job Safety Analysis’ (JSA). Review of JSA manual before critical tasks.
  • Assist and participate in the investigation of incidents, near misses and hazard assessments.
  • Strong ability to organize daily tasks and work within defined timelines to meet operational requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and enjoyable work area or job site by following company's policies, practices and procedures.
  • Believe and enforce HSE standards and practices.
  • Other duties as requested or required by the Coiled Tubing Supervisor or Site Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum zero to six months experience in the oil and gas industry preferred with relevant driving experience preferred.
  • Certifications – H2S, Standard Level First Aid, CPR, Hours of service with fatigue management, Fall Protection and Rig Rescue, Confined Space Entry, Detection of Flammable Substances, Defensive Driving, Safeland, Hazwoper, Forklift, Manlift.
  • Class A CDL with a driver evaluation. Hazmat, tanker and triples/doubles endorsements.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook to enable competency in all aspects of day to day operations involving spreadsheets and daily communication.
