Job summary

Axis Pipe and Tube LLC in Bryan, TX, is hiring for a Coil Receiving position. You will work with the Gantry Crane Operator to register, tag and unload coils from railroad cars, while following strict safety procedures.

Qualifications include a HS diploma or GED and 1–3 months of related experience or training. You will read procedures, use a radio, and handle basic rigging and hand tools as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• 1–3 months related experience or proof of training.
• Able to read and understand procedures and work instructions.
• English reading/writing/speaking to follow safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist crane operators with moving coils.
• Enforce safety rules to prevent crane-related injuries.
• Register and tag incoming coils electronically.
• Use company radio properly.
• Understand basic rigging and knot tying.
• Maintain and use hand tools.
• Complete assignments from Supervisor.
• Collect and identify Quality Chemical analysis samples.

Salary Range: $17.00 To $18.00 Hourly

Brief Summary:

Coil Receiving will work with the Gantry Crane Operator to register, tag and unload coils of steel from incoming railroad cars.

Responsibilities:

• Assist crane operators picking up and moving coils
• Enforce safety regulations by preventing people from loitering under the crane
• Electronically register and tag incoming coils
• Understand proper use of company radio.
• Understand basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying.
• Understand the proper use and maintenance of hand tools.
• Responsible for completing any assignments given by Supervisor, even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description.
• Responsible for the collection and identification of Quality Chemical analysis samples.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, OR Equivalency Certificate, (GED (General Education Degree), etc.)
• One to three months equivalent experience in related field OR, Proof of training in an area related to the job assignment
• Must be able to read and understand the Procedures and Work Instructions for the position held.
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow job and safety requirements.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, hands to feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
• The employee frequently is required to climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
