Job Title: Barista

Department: Coffee Shop

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function: As a Coffee Shop Barista, this position is responsible for reviewing and filling customer orders, handling food safely, and maintaining a clean work area. Providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service is essential.

Reporting Relations: Reports to District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers, Food Service Director, Coffee Shop Department Manager. No positions report to this role.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Greet customers with a smile and assist them in their shopping experience.
• Handle customer orders at the counter and over the phone.
• Work with team members to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Handle food safely, ensure cleanliness, and monitor food freshness.
• Prepare, replenish, and manage product inventory.
• Operate registers and process payments.
• Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to dress code.
• Report to work on time and as scheduled.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Wash dishes, order supplies, price products, and assist in other store areas as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Follow detailed instructions and deal with concrete variables.
• Perform basic math and recordkeeping.

Education and Experience: Less than high school or equivalent, with up to six months of related experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Visual and physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions: Store environment with potential noise, hazards, chemicals, and temperature extremes.

Equipment Used: Tools and equipment typical in a coffee shop, including register, dishwasher, scales, and knives.

Contacts: Daily contact with customers and regulatory agencies.

The starting hourly wage ranges from $13.50 to $16.80 depending on experience.
