Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company in Orrville, OH is seeking a Lab Technician for Product Development in Coffee Research & Development. This hands-on role supports the team with product testing, sample preparation, sensory evaluations, and data recording.

You will maintain lab inventory, ensure traceability, and follow GMP and safety practices while contributing to formulation and process improvements in a collaborative lab setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 5+ years laboratory experience.
• Data entry and reporting skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Brew coffee samples and support quality assessments through product testing, flavor evaluation, and sensory review panels (cupping).
• Perform general lab maintenance, utilize brewing appliances, record data, label and track samples.
• Order and maintain inventory of all ingredients for the team; manage purchase orders as necessary.
• Perform material traceability and software management within our inventory system, CISPRO.
• Support Product Development Team in formulation initiatives by preparing experimental formulations at direction of project leads.
• Follow proper laboratory practices including GMP and safety.
