What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review medical records to accurately abstract and code physician professional services and diagnosis codes
- Assign appropriate CPT and ICD10 codes and modifiers with a minimum of 95% accuracy
- Provide documentation feedback and training to physicians and staff
- Maintain coding reference information and communicate updates to providers
- Collaborate with operational areas to resolve claim issues and assist with coding reimbursement
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification
- 0-2 years of experience in a relevant role
- Minimum 94% accuracy on the organization's coding test
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in a Health Information Management program accredited by CAHIIM
- Previous experience with physician coding
