Job Description - Coding Specialist & Educator, (Per Diem), VNA of Cape Cod (241226-50022590)

Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the Manager and within the Agency policies and procedures, the Coding Specialist & Educator is responsible for coding and all new admissions & assisting Team Managers with coding ROC's and recerts. Educate and follow up with clinicians as applicable, assist Team Manager in enhancing skill and performance of field clinicians.

Description
  1. Assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes ensuring appropriate coding & sequencing as it relates to patients medical condition, including any co-morbidities.
  2. Utilizes SHP lists and validation reports in review of OASIS data.
  3. Consults with appropriate clinician to clarify data integrity issues and or corrections to documentation.
  4. Adheres to productivity standard set by the Department Manager.
  5. Advise Clinical Team Manager on field staff OASIS and documentation competency.
  6. Reports potential outliers and high risk patients to Clinical Team Manager.
  7. Educate staff with regards to documentation responsibilities for compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
  8. Provides clinical expertise and serves as resource to staff and community.
  9. Assist Clinical Team Managers with coaching as needed to enhance field clinician’s skill and performance.
  10. All other duties as assigned.
  11. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
  12. Challenges current working practices; identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management. Engages and commits to the organization’s culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence.
Qualifications
  • Current RN, PT or OT license in MA preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years recent clinical experience including two (2) years Certified Home Care required.
  • Current ICD-10 and OASIS experience preferred.
  • One (1) – three (3) years experience navigating Electronic Medical Record formats required.
Schedule Details

Per Diem Hours, Rotate Days, Weekends and Holidays as needed to cover scheduled time off.
