Coding Specialist - CCS - Hospital Outpatient

Full Time Remote - Florida Residency Required

Position Responsibilities

1. Perform coding and abstracting on outpatient and inpatient records, selecting ICD 10-CM diagnoses and CPT-4 codes with modifiers.
2. Assign correct APCs and CPT codes with an accuracy rate of 95% or higher.
3. Abstract clinical data such as discharge disposition, date, and patient type with 95% accuracy or higher.
4. Code 4.5 observation, ambulatory surgery, endoscopic, cardiovascular, and special procedures per hour.
5. Code 12 ER and cancer records per hour.
6. Respond to emails within 24-48 hours.
7. Manage Epic dashboard work queues, including priority, review, and failed claims within two days.
8. Maintain current coding credentials, submitting proof of compliance annually.
9. Verify daily received records and add notes to accounts.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. CCS, CCA, RHIT, or RHIA certification or eligibility to test; certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
2. Associate's degree in Health Information Management or completion of Coding Specialist program.
3. At least 2 years of coding experience with ICD 10-CM/PCS and CPT-4.
